Blame it on the baby

Sooooo....it's been quite a long time since I last blogged. And all I have to say is that I'm blaming it on the baby. The one in my belly (not an Austin Powers reference). The one due at the very end of February, 2012 (Thor's hoping for a Leap Year baby). That baby, sweet though it may be to us, has sucked pretty much all motivation out of me, leaving me with little energy to cook, clean, or blog. Pretty much all the baby motivates me to do is eat. Pascal doesn't seem to mind though because snack time for mom means snack time for him. So we're gaining weight together.

It's getting better though the last week or so. This morning I even took Pascal for a walk while it was still cool out, made some cream of celery soup (did you know you can make "cream of" pretty much anything?), and hemmed some pants for a friend. It's been an über-productive day as far as I'm concerned. If I manage to iron the pile of clothes sitting on the dining room table, I'll be giving myself a raise.

In other news, we have a housemate. She's a sweet pharmacy student, the sister of a friend, who will be living with us for a couple of months while she does rotations here in Saginaw. Pascal is totally charmed by her, and in return she likes him. I think he's been on his best behavior because he slept til 8:00 a.m. both yesterday and this morning. What other news...oh yes, my sister and her family made the big move to Brussels. Sigh, now I have to figure out what the best time is to call them and get used to them being thousands of miles away again. Fairfax wasn't close, but it was the U.S. They're an adventurous family, those Hendons.

Lots of other things have been going on in the month I've been away from blogging including lots of time in the water (Pascal is a little fish), harvesting things from our garden, quality time with friends and family, listening to live music outdoors, blueberry picking, and all the other summer things that we love. We've still got a whole month of summer left, and then I'll welcome in the cooler weather. Fall is my favorite season for sure. Although sweaters only make a pregnant woman look even bulkier.
