Tea Parties & Coming Babies

Today, I had the pleasure of hosting a baby party (I've been avoiding using the word "shower" for this party, not sure why) for my friend, Merce'. I'm sure I've written about her in at least one if not more blog posts - a sister from a Spaniard mother, she's been such a dear friend to me since our boys were about 4 or 5 months old (they're 1 month apart). Now, she's expecting a baby girl in just 3 weeks, and still cute as a button.

Merce' didn't have any special celebrations for her first pregnancy with Nick, and as her family is all back in Spain, it's just her, her husband, and son, and I thought, "Every woman should have a fabulous party when they're having a baby!" So with the help of my party planning guru, Laura, who attends to detail and decorating so much better than me (seriously, she should start a business in event planning), we had 9 or 10 of Merce's friends (many we share in common) from varying social connections over this afternoon for a tea party themed event.

We ate totally cute and delicious food (thank you ladies who brought yummy things!), sipped a variety of teas, we played not-your-typical baby party games, gave prizes out for the best tea hats and made new acquaintances. It was one of the best baby parties I've ever attended in my personal opinion because 1. Tea hats were required (and worn proudly), 2. The decorations were so charming!, and 3. The ladies, each and every one of them were great!

So elegant, don't you think?
