Weekend get away & a musical review!

This past weekend, thanks to the kindness of my parents, Thor and I went on a little get away to the far, far away land of Grand Rapids. It's pretty much like Chicago for this small city Saginaw girl. Highlights of the weekend included:

1. Time to play with Thor. It's nice to be reminded that we know how to have fun just the two of us.

2. Time with our former housemate, Becky, her brother and his fiancee. Becky and I crocheted indoors while Thor took the very photogenic couple's engagement photos outdoors downtown.
They will have beautiful children

3. Eating at Asian, Indian, and Mediterranean restaurants throughout the weekend. No cooking + my favorite ethnic foods = a very happy Joylynn!

4. Spending time with old college friends, Luke and Melissa and their girls and sampling some of Luke's home made cake. He's started a business for an interesting cause: http://cakesforamustang.blogspot.com/.

5. Going to see "White Christmas" the musical with said college friends. My review: GREAT dancing, a little sad that not all the traditional "White Christmas" songs were included, and a little sadder that new songs were included, but once I accepted creative artistic license for what it was, I enjoyed it much better.

All dressed up and somewhere to go

6. A visit with our cousins who have a son 1 month younger than Pascal (one of the 5 babies born 5 months in a row) and a 4 year old daughter. We enjoy each time we get to see them, though it's not as often as we'd like.

7. A very nice (continental breakfasts have come a long way since I was a kid) free hotel at a Marriott thanks to our credit card's reward points. Racking up points + paying off the whole balance each month = The Rasmussens come out on top!

8. Last but NOT least: a glowing report from my mom and dad about how the time with Pascal went. He ate, slept, and played well and didn't fuss one bit for them...until we got home. Thank you, thank you, thank you Mom & Dad! And thank you, thank you, thank you, Pascal! I'm so thankful for the quality time he got to spend with his grandparents, just like I remember spending with mine.

We hope to squeeze in one more "just us" overnight before Baby Girl comes in late February. When was your last get-away, just the two of you, if you have kids?

Last get away- 2 yrs ago. Hoping to remedy that soon! I'm jealous you got to go to a musical, that's right up my alley.

ENVIOUS!!! I have not have an overnighter without kids since before Nolan came to bless us with his ever so rough & tumble presence. He is still needing his momma atleast once through the night so I have yet to get that opportunity. Tried last summer and it was an epic FAIL.
