The beautiful Saravilla Bed & Breakfast in Alma, MI
I've made January "the month to do everything possibly fun before baby girl gets here." Which means it's not ok if she comes before February 1st (I'll have just reached the full term 37 week mark at that point) because for Christmas, Thor got us tickets to go see Garrison Keillor here in Saginaw on January 30th. If she does come earlier than that, I've already determined that we'll still go because newborns mostly just sleep anyways, and if she wakes up and cries, I'll nurse her and nobody will mind because it'll be dark in the theatre. Can you tell how much I've forgotten about the early days of caring for an infant? It's been a dream of mine to see Garrison live (we're on a first name basis), and Thor's making that dream come true!
This past Thursday we enjoyed a special treat, a trip to the Saravilla B&B about 45 minutes away from Saginaw courtesy of my dad (he got a great deal on a gift certificate at the Lapeer County Auction this past spring), Thor's co-worker Lindsey who played with Pascal for a couple of hours and Thor's parents who came up to our home and cared for Pascal overnight. The team effort allowed us to leave town earlier and miss the fore casted snow on our drive. It did end up snowing a good deal, but we took our time in getting home safely the next day.
Highlights of the trip to the B&B and our stay there:
-Seeing the giant Don Quixote-like wind turbines all along M-46. Impressive and spooky looking in the foggy sky!
-Driving by The Original Tony's Restaurant. I say this with sarcasm because I'm pretty sure there is one claiming to also be The Original Tony's in Saginaw.
-Seeing my first Bentley. I wouldn't have known it was such a special car but for Thor exclaiming over it as we drove behind it. I'm still not sure what's so amazing, but Thor assures me they're top drawer (a line we quote from "Mame.") They'd better be for the $200,000-$500,000 price tag! What on earth was one doing in rural Michigan?
-Eating really good pizza (the works with anchovies too!) at Pizza Sams in downtown Alma (they seem to have quite the fan following)
-Buying little containers of Edy's ice cream at the grocery store and bringing them back to the B&B to enjoy while watching The Office.
-A really good breakfast!
Other coming fun events for the month:

- Pascal's birthday and party this week;
- A maternity massage and afternoon date with Thor & Tet celebration (Vietnamese New Year) with my parents and brother next week;
- And of course, an evening with Garrison. And Thor too.

so jealous you're going to see Garrison! I heard it advertised on the radio and filed it away in my brain to make plans...and never did. So, if baby girl *does* decide to arrive on the 30th, you know where to send those non-refundable tickets--haha! No, really, enjoy that last fling!
Brian and I really wanted to go however he has to work so there goes that idea! haha..
